Gray honored on Senior Night

SPOKANE (AP) - Robert Sacre and Sam Dower scored 16 points apiece as Gonzaga cruised to a 96-49 victory over Cal State-Bakersfield on Monday night in its regular season finale.

Mathis Monninghoff had 12 points and Elias Harris added 10 for the Bulldogs (22-9) while Steven Gray, Gonzaga's lone senior and leading scorer, was held to nine points on senior night.

The 47-point margin of victory was Gonzaga's largest of the season and came one game after the Bulldogs held San Diego to 31 points, the fewest the program has allowed since joining the Division I ranks for the 1958-59 season.

Gonzaga has won seven straight as it heads into this weekend's West Coast Conference tournament in Las Vegas. The Bulldogs are the No. 2 seed and have a bye into the semifinals on Sunday.

Donavan Bragg led the Roadrunners (9-18) with 17 points, and Rashad Savage added 10. Bakersfield shot just 25.9 percent in the second half and was held to 18 points.

The game was never close after halftime. The Bulldogs went into intermission up 49-31 and opened the second half on a 17-5 run.

Gonzaga made 50 percent of its shots and was 11 of 29 from 3-point range.

Gray came into the game averaging 14.1 points. He was just 3 of 12, all 3-pointers, and finished with four assists and two steals.

Bakersfield has lost seven in a row and 13 of 14 but wasn't playing like it early on. The Roadrunners built an 11-7 lead as the Bulldogs made just 2 of their first 10 shots. The game was knotted at 19 before Gonzaga went on an 11-2 run.

Gray's first basket gave Gonzaga a 41-28 lead, and the Bulldogs shot 48.4 percent in the first half.

The Bulldogs shared the regular-season title with Saint Mary's for their 11th straight regular-season crown but enter the tourney as the second seed. The Bulldogs and Gaels split their season series.

Gonzaga will get the winner of the USF/Pepperdine/USD survivor Sunday in the late semifinal at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN2).
