Ex-Viking Murray competes as USA Juniors meet

EUGENE, Ore. - Recent Coeur d'Alene High grad Johnathan Murray finished 18th out of 19 throwers in a mostly-college field in the hammer throw at the USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships Friday at Hayward Field.

Murray, who won a state 5A championship in the discus in May for the Vikings, threw 169 feet, 1 inch. Alec Faldermeyer of UCLA won with a throw of 241-2.

Murray has signed to compete at NAIA Lewis-Clark State College next year.
