A new option of dining in Coeur d'Alene is French-Asian cuisine at the Lemon Grass Restaurant. With plans to open this past Friday, the bamboo-decor choice is in the former Takara building at 309 Lakeside Ave.

The renovated interior seats 56 customers at tables and 14 at the counter in the main dining room with a fireplace and has five tatami (private) rooms seating from eight to 12 people. Reservations are advised on weekends, and special events and catering also are available.

Originally from Santa Rosa and San Jose, Calif., owners Jack (David) and Diane Torres joined relatives in North Idaho in 1998 and also own United Home Sales in Hayden.

"Cooking and entertaining have always been his passion, and we're thrilled to do that," Diane said. They will have about 15 employees and pleasant background music.
