Gasp! No free doughnuts on Doughnut Day?

I noticed free coffee being given away at a Northwest Boulevard coffee stand a few minutes ago on my way in to work, and the most recent email waiting for me was this one, from a friend in the printing business. Free coffee but costly doughnuts? Read on. - Mike Patrick

What's worse than starting a day in news, publishing, or printing without a donut?

All this talk on the morning news the past couple of mornings about how Friday June 3 is national donut day, and most stores worth their weight in greasy dough will be giving out a free donut to anyone who stops by.

So imagine my shock and horror this morning when I walk up to the counter at the Donut House on Seltice Way in Post Falls and the nice young gal says "we're not doing it...it's just a promotion at our Hayden store." To which I answered, "it's supposed to be a nationwide thing." Anyway, after plunking down A DOLLAR PLUS for one donut, I exited with less enthusiasm for ever coming back.
