FDA: Admit your errors
In late June, the FDA warned consumers of possible contamination of alfalfa sprouts and spicy sprouts grown and distributed by Evergreen Produce of Moyie Springs while a thorough investigation was conducted. Consumers were told not to purchase or eat any of said sprouts.
On July 21, the company was completely cleared. Of the eight samples taken by the FDA, NONE were found to contain salmonella.
While I agree wholeheartedly that an investigation was necessary, this company received a lot of media attention and suffered greatly, both financially and emotionally. It is my feeling that the FDA needs, at this point, to make an announcement clearing Evergreen. Wouldn't that make sense? I have not yet seen an article to that effect...very sad.
