A. Mardell Muller, 87

| July 27, 2011 10:00 PM

Mardell Muller went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 26, 2011. She was born Feb. 20, 1924, in Winchester to Manford Cash and Nell Cash Matthiesen. She was the oldest of three daughters.

She grew up in Idaho and graduated Valedictorian of Kettle Falls High School in Washington. She attended nursing school and then became a World War II war bride when she married Milton Muller in 1945 in Hollywood, Calif.

They lived in Grand Coulee, Wash., before becoming modern day pioneers when the Columbia Basin irrigation project was opened in the 1950s. They farmed in Warden, Wash. Mardell revolved her life around church, community and her girl's school activities. Christ's love shined through Mardell and touched the lives of many family members and friends.

After selling their farm, they returned to Grand Coulee and then Wilbur, Wash., where they enjoyed family, friends, golfing and traveling. They became snow birds traveling to Arizona and Florida during the winter months. Later, Milt and Mardell moved to Spokane Valley.

Mardell is preceded in death by her parents; husband Milt and sister Marcia Sather.

She is survived by her sister, Linda Mereness of Delta Junction, Alaska; daughter Sandra and Bob Rowley of Post Falls; daughter Marcia and Gary Wilkins of Don Pedro Island, Fla.; daughter Ardith Brondt and David Adams of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren and their spouses; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff at Generations Assisted Living Facility in Rathdrum for the wonderful care they provided to Mardell and the family.

A memorial service and reception will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, at Hope Lutheran Church in Spokane Valley. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
