COEUR d'ALENE - Cars, jump houses, beer and a parade.

Hayden Days offers events and entertainment for Hayden residents and anyone else looking to have some fun over the weekend.

"We want to put on a good event for the community and really make sure it's a great quality," community services director Suzanne Cano said.

The cavalcade of fun begins with the two-hour pancake feed at Northern Lakes Fire Station. The feed will have enough pancakes, eggs, juice and coffee to fill up your stomach for the upcoming parade.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Hayden Avenue and will make its way to Honeysuckle Avenue. The parade will feature more than 80 units, one of them being a car showing off the grand marshal, citizen of the year, Graham Crutchfield.

"I'm speechless," Crutchfield said. "This was an unexpected honor, and I'm grateful for this honor. There are many people in this community that are well deserving."

Crutchfield served in the Marine Corps from 1955 to 1959, and was injured during his service. He is a volunteer in the Hayden Rotary and works with Buck Knives Inc., when the company gives commemorative knives to soldiers returning home from duty.

Clowns, cool cars, Smokey the Bear and local businesses will be featured during the parade this year.

Once the parade ends, the fun will be located at Hayden Park where there will be something for every age. For the kids there will be games, camel and pony rides, a jump house and more.

"The kids area is always a big draw for Hayden Days," Cano said.

There will also be a demonstration area where Flip Factory gymnastics will be performing, and a Zumba demonstration as well.

For the guys, there will be multiple boats and cars to check out. Tobler Marina will have a few of their boats on display while NAPA (National Auto Parts Association) is expecting a large showing of classic cars this year.

"The car show is really going to be a great show this year," Cano said.

Prizes will be handed out during the car show this year as well.

Bands will perform Friday and Saturday night from 6 to 9 p.m. On Friday, The Collective will be playing and on Saturday the Kelly Hughes Band will perform.

"There is normally a really big draw for our headliners," Cano said.

Food vendors will be on hand as well as a beer garden hosted by the Hayden City Gems.
