Four dance floors and five music studios will help comprise Expressions School of Performing Arts under construction on the Tullamore crossing at 2825 N. Highway 41.

Moving from 3920 W. Fifth Ave. in Post Falls in early September, the 7,600-square-foot facility will allow classes in ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop in dance, lessons in acting, voice, guitar, piano and drums and zumba and yoga exercise. Activities for ages 3 to adult will begin Sept. 6, with registration at the current place 4-7 p.m. July 28 and 29. The open house will be 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3.

A dancer since she was 3 and an instructor since she was 16, owner Brenda Blankenship was originally from Petaluma, Calif., and came to North Idaho in 1997 after visiting relatives here. She opened a studio in 1998, expanded it twice and now offers 85 dance classes to 250 dance students. This will expand to 100 classes for 250 students in the new place.

Hours will be 1-9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays. Phone 457-9022. Check www.expressionsteamx.com.

Complete Suite to Highway 95

Expanding from 11,000 to 15,000 square feet, Complete Suite Furniture is moving in August from 7419 Government Way to the former All-Wood Furniture building in the southwest corner of Highway 95 at Dalton Avenue.

The store offers a full line of name-brand furniture and mattresses from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Brad and Julie Markquart opened a store in Spokane Valley with a $27,300 loan and two truck loads of furniture. They now have six stores (Spokane, Spokane Valley, Yakima, Kennewick, Pasco and Coeur d'Alene) and 30 employees.

JAMMS Yogurt coming downtown

Offering 10 flavors of premium frozen yogurt and choices of more than 70 (!) toppings, JAMMS Frozen Yogurt will add its third North Idaho store in a few months when it opens in downtown Coeur d'Alene (in the former Bella Rose store on the north side of Sherman Avenue between Second and Third streets) before the end of the month.

Owner Joe Seman's motto for the stores is "Where you rule" in making choices for your treats. With 25 employees, his other stores are at 3500 Government Way (northeast corner with Neider Avenue in front of Costco) and 854 Pullman Highway in Moscow. The downtown Cd'A store will have seating for 30 customers inside and several outside. Hours will open at 10 a.m. daily. Seman plans to add two more stores.

Here's this week's tidbits:

• Ah, we're still waiting for information about the new Italian restaurant on East Sherman Avenue.

• President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month in 1984 and this is National Ice Cream Day. Promoters say 9 percent of milk produced in the U.S. is used to produce ice cream, and each American consumes about 23 quarts of ice cream products a year. Its first recorded history was in 1700. The most popular flavor is vanilla followed by chocolate, strawberry, chocolate chip and butter pecan.

• Burger King has had a permit for a store in front of the Post Falls Walmart since March, but that's all that's happened.

• Hmm. The word towhead (spelled that way for a blond boy) has two origins - from the color of the end of a freshly cut log and the name (and color) of low-grade flax, the latter as how my college dean described my hair - when I had (more) hair.
