How to have total joint replacement surgery

Everyone wants to get back to their normal activities after having total joint replacement surgery. A successful total hip, knee, or shoulder replacement can help people become more active, alleviate pain, and offer more mobility. As we anticipate another beautiful summer, anyone facing a total joint replacement surgery is no doubt hoping for a quick recovery.

With a multitude of talented orthopedic surgeons in the area, your surgery is already set up for success. However, did you know there are things that you can do to increase your odds of having a completely successful recovery?

Many of my patients ask: What can I expect with the procedure? What resources are available to me to make sure I don't do anything wrong? Is there anything I can do at home prior to the surgery to make my recovery better? How do I make sure I don't reinjure myself?

Preparation of the body and the home prior to surgery can increase your success rate considerably. Additionally, having a forum for your questions to be answered will not only give you needed education about your procedure, but provide you with a support group of others who are going through the same thing.

After evaluating my patient's needs in recovering from a total joint replacement surgery, I wanted to offer a class on the topic. All the above questions are answered, as well as many others. I held the class last month and had some amazing questions and participation from the attendees. That has compelled me to offer the free class again this month.

At Pinnacle Physical Therapy, we are offering this free class on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at our clinic in Post Falls. Space is limited, so call our office at (208) 777-4242 to reserve your spot.
