Brawl mars Indians' loss

SPOKANE - The Vancouver Canadians defeated the Spokane Indians 9-6 in the finale of a five-game Northwest League baseball series before 3,323 at Avista Stadium on Monday afternoon - a game delayed nearly 20 minutes by a third-inning brawl between the two teams.

Immediately after the game, the Indians organization apologized for the incident, saying "The Indians organization does not in any way condone the actions of the players during this incident. The Northwest League is currently in the process of reviewing the game, and numerous suspensions are likely to be handed out."

Balbino Fuenmayor hit two home runs for Vancouver (15-10) and drove in three runs.

Spokane (13-12) is idle tonight, then travels to Everett on Wednesday to begin a five-game series.
