STATUE: Doesn't qualify as art

The statue of Ganesha - why? I am a supporter of all peaceful religions and have a very open mind but why? It is ugly and an eyesore downtown.

The meaning is certainly being misrepresented but my objection is that it has nothing to do with the community or culture here. If one is proclaiming it is a piece of art then I think they are misinformed. I am an artist and find it not at all artistic or interesting - just ugly.
