Bayview captures state title
LEWISTON - John Galbraith hit a two-run triple in a six-run second inning as the Bayview Whitecaps defeated Lewiston 14-3 in the second game of the best-of-three series to capture the state 18-and-under Babe Ruth tournament at Church Field on Saturday.
Bayview took the opening game of the series late Friday as J.D. Page struck out 13 and Jeremy McKinney hit a two-run walk-off single in a 6-5 Bayview win.
In Saturday's game, Bayview took advantage of five walks, two hit batters and a pair of Lewiston errors to take a 7-0 lead in the first inning.
"It's always nice to beat Lewiston, especially for the state title," Bayview coach Kim Rogstad said.
Page and A.J. Walls had two RBIs apiece for Bayview, which advances to the regional tournament July 20-24 in Port Angeles, Wash.
