It's Twilight time again

| July 7, 2011 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - It's Tails at Twilight time.

The fundraiser for the Kootenai Humane Society is scheduled 6-9 p.m. July 19 at the Hagadone Event Center.

"This is the first public event at the new event center," said Rondi Renaldo, KHS executive director. "We're thrilled."

The sixth annual Tails at Twilight is critical to the Humane Society's future. Renaldo hopes it attracts 500 people and raises $100,000.

There will be live and silent auctions, music, ballroom dancers, wine raffle and hors d'uvres. Items up for bid will include a private helicopter ride and dinner at The Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, and dinner at Beverly's with America's veterinarian Marty Becker.

The KHS rescue shelter at the end of Ramsey Road costs about $200,000 more to operate than comes in through other donations.

"This is our event that holds us out through the year," she said.

There are 80 dogs and 120 cats at the shelter, with 40 cats on a waiting list.

Renaldo said for those who can't attend Tails at Twilight but want to assist the animal shelter, they can drop off donations items at the KHS thrift shop on Third Street. All sales there benefit the shelter.

Tickets are $75 each, $125 for couples and a table of eight is $400.
