PETS: Suffering shouldn't be option

| January 26, 2011 9:00 PM

I was shocked and disgusted to read the front page story of the dog that was found half dead and had to be euthanized. Who would allow an animal to suffer like that? Who would ignore an animal in need?

Shame on all of those people who saw that dog and ignored the need. Shame on them all for not taking that dog for help. My heart goes out to the woman who did step up and take the opportunity to at least try to get help for that poor animal.

These stories of abuse and neglect haunt my thoughts, daily. It is so heartbreaking to think someone can be so abusive and think nothing of it. If you can't take care of your "pet" at least give it to someone who can or will. Pets aren't disposable. Stop thinking you can dispose of them in someone's neighborhood and they will be taken care of. CLEARLY THEY WON'T. You allowed your pet to suffer the last painful days of its life. Stop the abuse. Every pet deserves a good life.
