COEUR d'ALENE - More McEuen meetings means more moderation.

To help pay for facilitating the public gatherings about the downtown park's potential redesign, the city of Coeur d'Alene is asking its urban renewal agency, Lake City Development Corp., to possibly split the cost.

The roughly $5,500 total would pay for hosting the meetings, including the first meeting a couple of weeks ago at North Idaho College and the two future meetings planned for Feb. 3 and Feb. 10 at Woodland Middle School.

Lori Isenberg, North Idaho Housing Coalition director, is in charge of moderating the meetings.

LCDC will likely be asked to cover around half of the total - $2,700, said Tony Berns, LCDC executive director.

Around 500 people attended the first meeting, which was a presentation of the design. The Feb. 3 meeting is scheduled to be a repeat of the first meeting, with the architects and design team of the project breaking into teams for one-on-one question and answer groups after the presentation.

The Feb. 10 meeting is expected to be more of a open question and answer format for the public, but logistics on how that will be handled hasn't been nailed down yet.

The request is scheduled to go to the board at 4 this afternoon during their monthly meeting in the Community Room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.

Also on the agenda, Riverstone West property owners and Whitewater Creek Inc., will make a presentation to the board about entering into a partnership to possibly help fund a $1.9 million road extension in Riverstone West. The extension would complete John Loop Road.
