APOLOGY: Beware a possible trap

| January 19, 2011 4:15 AM

Regarding inmate Zach Beck's front page article "I'm Sorry." Ladies, Ladies, Ladies, PLEASE BEWARE. Let me give you some administrative insight as to so many of Beck's type.

It will begin with an apology and a statement of SOME of the wrongs he has committed leading to his multiple incarcerations. He or she will then ask humbly to open up an avenue of communication. Without fail some lonely person will bite and begin writing, thus beginning a dialogue. Before long the victim (aka, the poor fool) will begin sending a small amount of money for the crook's canteen purchases.

During this period the prisoner will be showing his celly the incoming letters from the various pigeons who have responded to his great awakening. It will be a story told over and over around the yard. When I relayed this tale to my brother-in-law, a retired corrections officer, he practically fell down laughing. There are countless stories of women eventually marrying inmates which defies common sense and logic and generally ends in yet another tragedy. I trust The Press had contact with the prison authorities prior to running this story.
