Robinson receives substance abuse professional certification

David Robinson, of the Rathdrum Counseling Center LLC, has received his substance abuse professional certification from the Substance Abuse Professionals Administrators Association.

This permits him to conduct alcohol and drug evaluations on employees within the transportation industry who have violated a rule governing substance abuse.

When a driver or pilot is found to have used the wrong substance while performing safety sensitive duties, a certified substance abuse professional must evaluate the employee before the employee is permitted to return to duty.

The substance abuse professional coordinates all aspects of the evaluation process, including a follow up evaluation, with the employer.

Robinson has been employed at the Rathdrum Counseling Center since October 2009, and has 14 years of experience in the alcohol and drug treatment field. He received his substance abuse professional certification late last year.

The counseling center's substance use disorder treatment program and mental health outpatient clinic offer clients a place to begin addressing problems common to alcohol and drug use disorders and mental health challenges. The center has 14 employees trained in both mental health and substance use outpatient treatment. It is located at 14954 Coeur d'Alene St., in Rathdrum.
