Flavia Jessie Turk, 97

| January 17, 2011 12:03 PM

Ninety-seven years young, she peacefully passed at her son's home in Omak, Wash., on Jan. 11, 2011. She was born, Flavia Jessie Booher to Jessie L. Booher and Essie Hayworth Booher (Hubbard) on July 1, 1913, in Spangle, Wash., at her grandmother's home.

She was raised in St. Maries, Coeur d'Alene and Huetter. She was married to Joseph L. Turk on June 24, 1933, in Spokane, Wash.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Lee Turk and his wife Judie L. Turk of Omak, Wash.; her sisters, Eloise E. Pieratt of Wenatchee, Wash., and Bernice M. Haight of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren Sandra K. Wood, Jeffry L. Turk, both of Omak, Patricia A. Thompson of Shannon, Ga., Richard Andrews of Omak, Stephen B. Andrews of Coeur d'Alene, Shawna M. Thompson of Spokane; eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lee Turk Sr., sisters Gladys E. Ficklin and Georgia E. Hunt.

She was a longtime member of the Rebekah Lodge in Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls. She worked various jobs including, but not limited to Woolworth's Department Store, Grace Hall's and the Clothes Closet, all in Coeur d'Alene.

She could always bring a smile to your face when she related the stories of her childhood and her memories of growing up in Coeur d'Alene. She was a strong Lady and very definite in her opinions.

She lived the past 10 years of her life in Omak close to her son and many members of her immediate family. She was in good health most of her life and the medical condition resulting in her passing was short term.

We will all miss her, but we are happy she can again feel free to run and dance.

Upon her request no services will be held.
