Moscow wins in OT, snatches top seed from Hawks

| January 16, 2011 8:00 PM

RATHDRUM - Kati Greear and Kylie Gorton scored 11 points each for the Moscow Bears in a 57-50 overtime win against the Lakeland Hawks in 4A Inland Empire League action at Hawk Court on Saturday.

"We turned it over too much tonight," Lakeland coach Steve Seymour said. "We had our chances, but it seemed like we hustled for a few minutes and then watched them outhustle us. We had a hard time rebounding and just need to take care of the hustle plays and rebounding. We just didn't take care of the boards at home."

Shelby Coder hit a 3-pointer with six seconds remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime for Lakeland.

Coder had 19 points and Neena Buchmann had 10 points, five rebounds and five steals for Lakeland (9-9, 2-1 4A IEL), which hosts Sandpoint on Friday.

With the win, Moscow (5-11, 3-1) captured the No. 1 seed to the 4A Region 1 tournament. Lakeland will be the No. 2 seed, Sandpoint No. 3.
