Top-ranked Trojans tumble at Lewiston

| January 9, 2011 8:00 PM

LEWISTON - Matt Kalbfleisch scored 19 points to lead the Lewiston Bengals past the top-ranked Post Falls Trojans 75-72 in a 5A Inland Empire League game Saturday at Booth Hall.

"Lewiston had a lot of shots that fell in the first quarter tonight," Post Falls coach Mike McLean said. "We didn't compete through adversity well."

Lewiston, which jumped out to a 24-8 lead after one quarter, went 23 of 36 from the foul line. Post Falls was 7 of 9.

"We can't have a slow start like that and overcome that from the line," McLean said. “We didn’t bring it tonight. That can’t happen in a league as tough as ours. We’ll learn from it and move on.”

Connor Hill scored 39 points for Post Falls (9-1, 1-1 IEL), which hosts Lake City on Tuesday.

Randon Fuentes scored 15 points for Lewiston (6-5, 1-1), which hosts Lakeland on Tuesday.
