SPENCER: Aiming at wrong target

| January 9, 2011 9:00 PM

In response to Mr. Spencer's letter in the Jan. 7 Press. I think some clarification is in order regarding Rep. Eric Anderson's house and development project at Priest Lake. Mr. Spencer states that Mr. Anderson purchased his house a far below market value. However, the reason for this is the house was an older structure sitting on land being subdivided by Mr. Anderson and some partners. This wasn't some kind of "sweetheart" deal for Rep. Anderson. It was essentially a "left over" property acquired after years of hard work on the project.

Also, as an owner of a summer cabin at Priest Lake close to the development I can say there was absolutely no benefit to them in regard to Rep. Anderson's milfoil removal campaign. There was no milfoil in that area to begin with and very little at Priest Lake overall. The milfoil project has focused more on the Pend Oreille river area where is it a MAJOR problem. Kudos to Rep. Anderson on addressing the problem there and proactively keeping an eye on the quality of Priest Lake.

In my opinion Rep. Anderson has done an excellent job representing his district in North Idaho and I think Phil Hart could take some lessons in accountability from him.
