LEWISTON - Savannah Blinn scored 12 points and the Lewiston Bengals held the Coeur d'Alene Vikings without a field goal in the first quarter in a 41-33 win at Booth Hall in a 5A Inland Empire League contest Tuesday night.

"Both teams were really good on defense tonight," Coeur d'Alene assistant coach Apryl Brainard said. "They came out and scored five field goals in the first quarter and then we held them to five the rest of the game."

Lewiston went 17 of 27 from the foul line, while Coeur d'Alene went 6 of 12 in the game.

"They just made a lot of free throws in the fourth quarter," Brainard said. "We held them to two field goals, but they had 12 points on free throws in the fourth quarter."

Sophomore Kendalyn Brainard, who suffered a torn ACL last summer, had six points and six rebounds in her first game of the season for Coeur d'Alene (9-4, 1-2 5A IEL), which travels to Lake City on Friday for the Fight for the Fish game.

"She played well in a reserve role," Coach Brainard said. "She didn't play tentative and played some key minutes. She just needs to work her way back into the rotation."

Kyeli Parker added seven points, Heather Baughman six rebounds for Coeur d'Alene.

Lewiston (9-2, 2-0) played without starting point guard Karlee Wilson, who was out with an ankle injury.
