Mildred Ruth Boeker, 102

Mildred Ruth Boeker, 102, of Coeur d'Alene, passed away Feb. 20, 2011, at Pinewood Care Facility in Coeur d'Alene. She was born Jan. 20, 1909, in Arenzville, Ill., to Fred and Dora (Wilken) Frederick.

An only child, Mildred was raised by her grandmother in Oakford, Ill. In 1933 she met and married Virgil Boeker. They made their home in Rushville, Ill. Virgil owned and operated a machine shop while Mildred worked her way through an apprenticeship eventually earning her Pharmacy License.

In 1936 they had their only child, Darlene. After Virgil passed away in 1961, Mildred moved to North Idaho to be near her daughter and her family. Mildred worked as a clerk at the Hart Drug Store (Fourth and Sherman) in Coeur d'Alene. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coeur d'Alene for more than 47 years. Mildred enjoyed crocheting and throughout the years donated hundreds of lap robes to Shriners Hospital in Spokane.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Darlene Atwood of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren, Michael Atwood of Post Falls, Tim Atwood of Coeur d'Alene and Teresa Ferrari of Gresham, Ore.; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, with graveside service to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d'Alene Chapel, is entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
