COEUR d'ALENE - Maybe the committee will vote on a vote.

Today at noon, the General Services Committee will consider a request to put the adoption of McEuen Field's conceptual design to a public vote.

Friends of McEuen, a group of McEuen Field advocates, last week approached officials about bringing the discussion up at the city level, and the topic could be forwarded to the City Council for consideration at its next meeting.

Friends of McEuen members Rita Sims-Snyder and Julie Clark made the request, and City Councilman and GSC chair Mike Kennedy said public comment would be taken.

"All we're asking for at this time is that the conceptual plan, whatever it turns out to be, be put to a public vote," Sims-Snyder said after requesting the topic go to the committee. "We want them to give us an agenda item at the City Council."

The GSC is a City Council subcommittee that forwards topics to be taken up by the council. The three-member board can recommend the whole council adopt a topic, recommend it be denied, or kill a topic during its own meeting by not moving it forward.

The meeting is in the Community Room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library, 702 E. Front Ave.

The committee will also consider establishing a "No Parking" zone on the north side of Front Avenue, from Seventh Street approximately 30 feet westerly, and on the east side of Seventh Street, from Front Avenue approximately 30 feet to the north. The parking zone would help with visibility at the intersection, staff reports state.

Candi Wilcox clarified that only part of her family wouldn't help her in her homeless situation. There are relatives in Idaho who are willing, she said, but can't because of their own problems. An article in Saturday's paper was not specific enough.
