BOYS BASKETBALL

POST FALLS - Deon Watson led three players in double figures with 21 points as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings knocked off the 5A Inland Empire League champion Post Falls Trojans 70-65 on senior night Thursday night at The Arena.

Jake Matheson added 18 points, Chad Chalich 15 for Coeur d'Alene (13-7, 3-3), which opened up a 14-point lead after three quarters.

"They outplayed us for three quarters; that third quarter was a big one," said Post Falls coach Mike McLean, whose team shot 19 for 51 from the field. "Coeur d'Alene shot the ball well tonight. We just had too many unforced turnovers and missed shots to beat a team like Coeur d'Alene."

Marcus Colbert scored 22 points, Connor Hill scored 21, and Michael Hillman grabbed seven rebounds for top-ranked Post Falls (16-3, 4-2), which travels to Moscow on Saturday.

The seeds were already set prior to Thursday for the 5A Region 1 tournament, which tips off next Friday at Post Falls. No. 2 Lake City plays No. 3 Coeur d'Alene at 5:45 p.m., and No. 1 Post Falls plays No. 4 Lewiston at 7:30.
