COEUR d'ALENE - A customer at the Coeur d'Alene Super 1 Foods store in Coeur d'Alene withdrew cash from an ATM and got a counterfeit $20, police said.

The customer was at the store, 305 W. Kathleen Ave., to pay on her Avista Utilities bill.

After withdrawing money from the ATM, she went to the store's courtesy counter to pay the bill late last month.

She handed the clerk the cash, including the fake bill. Police said the customer did not pass the fake bill on purpose.

The clerk determined the bill was counterfeit. Police have placed the bill in evidence.

A $20 counterfeit bill was passed by a woman in her 40s at Little Caesars Pizza, at 192 E. Neider Ave., on Jan. 19.

The woman used the bill to purchase a $5.30 pizza, and received $14.70 in change.

A Little Caesars employee took the bill to Global Credit Union to confirm it was counterfeit. The suspect left the pizza outlet before it was suspected the bill was a fake.
