Vivian Mae Shockley Burtzoff, 94

Vivian Mae Shockley Burtzoff was born July 18, 1917, in Willow Springs, Mo., and died Dec. 18, 2011, at Coeur d'Alene Homes.

Her family moved to Twin Falls in February 1919. She married Cecil Shockley on Dec. 20, 1934. Mr. and Mrs. Shockley and their three sons Dwane, Calvin and Harold moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1952.

Cecil preceded Vivian in death on Dec. 30, 1955, and her son, Harold, preceded her on Oct. 10, 2010.

Vivian married Leanard Burtzoff April 17, 1971, who preceded Vivian in death Nov. 8, 2002. A step-son Robert, five brothers and four sisters who also preceded her in death.

Vivian was an active member of First Baptist Church as well as Bethel Baptist Church for many years. She was also active in the Rebekah Lodge No. 16, For-get-Me-Not-Club and the Golden Link Club for many years. Vivian enjoyed being a homemaker, a seamstress and enjoyed making quilts for the grandchildren and baby showers. Her family and friends enjoyed her homemade cookies and candy at Christmas time. Upon becoming a widow in 1955 she was employed at Wilson's Pharmacy, Coeur d'Alene Hospital, Mode O'Day, IXL Toggery and Gridley's clothing store.

Vivian is survived by her youngest sister, LaVerna Davis in Boise; her two sons, Dwane (Vetra) Shockley, Calvin (Judy) Shockley; and daughter-in-law Rosemary Shockley; two step-sons Aaron (Carol) Burtzoff, Vernon Burtzoff; a step-daughter Ramona (Whitey) Hazel; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Forest Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at First Baptist Church, 424 Wallace, Coeur d'Alene, with reception to follow at the church.
