CLUB: On road to good deeds

| December 9, 2011 8:00 PM

On Dec. 6, this paper ran a short article and picture about our club, the North Idaho Classic Car Club, donating to local charities. This club is made up of dedicated members and volunteers that have been involved in this type of activity for many years. This year we were able to donate $6,000.

The NICCC was an idea that began in 1984 and since has been responsible for raising and donating just over $80,000 to date to local charities. Our main revenue has come from working with the Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association and coordinating the annual Friday Night Cruise for the Car d'Lane, the sale of T-shirts and helping with the Hot Rod Cafe's annual Rod Run. With the recent demise of the Hot Rod Cafe, we will be looking to find more avenues of revenue to keep up and even increase our abilities to donate to many of these worthy causes.

Ours and many other local clubs belong to a car club council, based in Spokane. The Inland Northwest Car Club Council is made up of a multitude of car clubs and enthusiasts throughout the area and money is raised yearly to provide scholarships for worthy students. This fundraising activity is a combined effort of all the clubs involved.

The North Idaho Classic Car Club is dedicated to preserving our hobby and interest in classic vehicles along with providing local charities with much needed revenue. Membership is open to all that have a genuine interest in classic cars, whether you own one or not, and our annual dues are very affordable.

Our new meeting place, date and time will be the Rockin' Robin Café, 3650 N. Government Way, the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. and food is available. Our meetings are open to all and we welcome guests and potential new members.
