Education hearing Monday in Cd'A

| August 10, 2011 11:04 AM

The Idaho State Board of Education will hold a hearing in Coeur d’Alene Monday on a proposal to require high school students to earn two online credits in order to graduate.

The public hearing takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. at North Idaho College in the Meyer Health Building, room 102.

The Coeur d’Alene hearing is one in a series of seven hearings being held throughout the state.

The board of education subcommittee tasked with determining an online education requirement is expected to make a recommendation to the full board after the hearings are concluded.

Idaho’s recently enacted education reform legislation requires the state board of education to set the parameters for an online education high school graduation requirement.

If the two-credit proposal is approved, it would affect students graduating in 2016.
