Rathdrum Relay for Life event is tonight

| August 8, 2011 9:00 PM

RATHDRUM - Panhandle State Bank in Rathdrum will host a Bank Night tonight from 6-8 in conjunction with the inaugural Relay for Life cancer fundraiser in Rathdrum.

Team participants can drop off any donations at the bank tonight and at the same time team captains can pick up their teams shirts. Teams can still sign up. Any items for the silent auction can also be dropped off.

On Friday, the inaugural Relay for Life walk will begin at 6 p.m. at Lakeland High with the first lap devoted to cancer survivors. After the first lap, survivors will be treated to a dinner while team members begin their laps.

The event will run until 10 a.m. on Saturday. Team participants will spend the entire night walking around the track, showing that cancer patients live with cancer 24/7 and that "cancer never sleeps."

During the event, participants will be treated to entertainment, refreshments, and hours of mingling with other teams and participants. Over the past several months teams have been signing up online.

The goal of the event is to raise $25,000 to help fight cancer. All of the money raised will be donated to the American Cancer Society and much of the money will be used locally.

Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to visit relayforlife.org/rathdrumid.
