| April 29, 2011 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Christian Youth Theater-North Idaho (CYT-NI) will present the Broadway musical, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," May 20-31 at the Kroc Center.

More than 100 local school children ages 8-18 make up the cast and crew. All are current students in CYT-North Idaho's spring session of theater arts classes.

Mark Twain's classic story comes to exuberant musical life in this adaptation of America's favorite book. "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" is the story of a teen boy growing up in the heartland of America.

Twain's immortal novel is set in 1840 in Missouri, in a bustling town on the banks of the Mississippi River. In the course of the story, Tom matches wits with his stern Aunt Polly, falls in love with the beautiful, feisty Becky Thatcher, and goes on the adventure of his life with Becky and that irresistible renegade, Huckleberry Finn.

This is the premiere run of the show in the Inland Northwest.
