Cardinals sweep 14th-ranked CSI Trojans split with Lewiston
TWIN FALLS - Freshman Desirae Tinoco went a combined 7 for 9 at the plate for the North Idaho College Cardinals in an 8-6, 15-11 Scenic West Athletic Conference softball doubleheader sweep of the 14th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles on Saturday at Golden Eagle Field.
In the first game, Tinico hit a two-run home run in the third inning and had a two-run double in the fourth as NIC jumped out to a 7-2 lead after four innings.

Sophomore Alyssa Erickson hit a grand slam in the fifth inning for NIC (30-23, 23-19), which concludes the regular season next weekend with four games at Colorado Northwestern.
"Desirae Tinico was huge for us at the plate both games," NIC assistant coach Angie Boardman said. "(Blake) Meredith and (Jenifer) Rosie pitched very well and helped us keep CSI's runs to a minimum, allowing us to have some huge rally innings. It was good seeing us finally play to our level and get fired up."

Senior Eric Nikssarian laced two triples - one to each gap - in the opener, but the Bulldogs (4-10, 2-2 4A IEL) could only muster two hits against Moscow ace Jake Helbling.
"They went into the second game knowing that they had to split, and started banging the ball around," said Bulldogs coach Chris Young. "They play with more confidence when Tevin is on the mound. He made the other team hit his pitches, he didn't go for the strikeout."
Tyler Gordon and Jackson Olin each had two of the Bulldogs' 11 hits, and Sam Nitcy and Nikssarian each scored twice.
