DAR chapter presents awards to local students
COEUR d'ALENE - Members of the Lt. George Farragut Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution recently held an awards ceremony at the Jewett House to recognize local students.
The American History essay contest is open to students in grades five through eight. This year's subject was "Memoirs of Paul Revere." Caroline McNee, a fifth-grader at Skyway Elementary, was a chapter winner along with Zachary Waite, an eighth-grader at North Idaho Christian School.
Alexandra Winslow, a senior at Lakeland High School, was awarded the Lt. George Farragut Chapter Good Citizen award. She also won at the state and Northwest regional levels, qualifying her to compete at the national level.
Other Good Citizen award winners include Aubrey Neal from Coeur d'Alene High School, Jocelyn Verkist from Kootenai High School, Kendall Hoerner from Post Falls High School, and ShawnLeah Richey from Mullan High School.
