Lambert lifts Viks past Trojans

COEUR d'ALENE - Matt Lambert went 4 for 4 with four RBIs and three stolen bases as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings downed the Post Falls Trojans 13-5 in 5A Inland Empire League baseball Tuesday at Ted Page Field.

Kaleb DeHaas went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Coeur d'Alene (11-1, 4-0 5A IEL). Jake Pereira struck out three in four shutout innings for the Vikings.

"We got a lot of strikes out of our starting pitching, and we played good defense behind them, and we ran the bases well," Coeur d'Alene coach Nick Rook said.

Coeur d'Alene travels to Sandpoint today at 4, in a game moved up from Thursday.

Post Falls (3-3, 0-2) visits Lake City today at 4.

COEUR d'ALENE - Tyler Burnett's three-run homer in the fifth inning of the first game put the Hawks up 5-4, and the visitors did not relinquish the lead.

In the second game, Lakeland (3-5) tied it with three runs in the top of the sixth inning. But the umpires called the game due to darkness after that, so the score reverted to the fifth inning, giving the Timberwolves a 6-3 win.

Mitch Bevacqua hit a two-run double in the fifth inning of the second game for Lake City (5-4), and Garrett Cabeza hit a pair of RBI triples.

Lake City plays host to Post Falls today at 4. Lakeland travels to Sandpoint for a doubleheader Thursday at 3 p.m.
