COLUMN: Paper lacking without it

| April 13, 2011 10:00 PM

I must say that I was extremely disappointed to find out "The Linotype" by Tim Hunt was canceled. The opinions that Tim wrote about were for me, extremely interesting, and gave me one reason to read your paper. Why would a paper that seems to be struggling from loss of readership remove this part of your paper from its Sunday circuit?

I know that my opinion probably means little to you but I am sure many others feel the same as I do. It's become very frustrating for me to see the news in print, with all the problems it is having, caused by the use of the Internet and television, to whittle away the parts that make a paper worth reading.

No, I am not interested in Martha's cat nor a pot hole that is being filled on Sherman Avenue. Tim's opinions gave me a feel of what a newspaper should have, and that is something that can take us away from the mundane everyday stories and give us something to think about. I enjoyed responding back to his articles be it if I agreed or disagreed, I could at least put my point across. So here is my opinion: I think your newspaper made an error in judgment.
