<p>SHAWN GUST/Press Blake Meredith, a sophomore softball player for North Idaho College, walks with Diego, a mixed breed available for adoption at the Kootenai Humane Society on Tuesday. Approximately two dozen student athletes and NIC staff took part in the Cardinal Canine Club's kick off event at the shelter. The group aims to improve chances adoption among the dogs through stimulating interaction.</p>
