Lake City wins wild one
SNOHOMISH, Wash. - Lake City quarterback Mark Smyly ran for 159 yards and threw for 124 in a 44-37 Timberwolves win over Glacier Peak on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
"It was a great game," Lake City coach Van Troxel said. "This about as wild of a game that I've ever been a part of. Luckily, we ended up on the right side."
Glacier Peak recovered an onside kick and kicked a 24-yard field goal with one minute remaining to pull within 7.
Lake City recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock.
Allen Carmichael had 22 carries for 159 yards and one touchdown for Lake City (2-2), which hosts Post Falls on Friday to open 5A Inland Empire League play.
Lake City held Glacier Peak (3-1) to minus-18 yards rushing, but Kevin Campbell threw for 355 yards as the Timberwolves outgained the Grizzlies 480-355.
