PHONES: Book of the month club?
I now receive so many telephone directories and Yellow Pages, I feel like I belong to the "Telephone Book of the Month Club!" I swear I receive a dozen or so each year, and it's getting worse. Plus, most of them are thrown onto my lawn, thrown in my driveway or hung on my mailbox (isn't that illegal?). I do remember one, however, that was actually put on my front deck by my door.
Today was the "Coup de grace." Frontier Communication, the wonderful new owner of Verizon Telephone, hired someone to deliver mine and my neighbors telephone directories, and they were delivered during the heaviest downpour we have had in months. And where did they end up? On the driveway and the lawn! AND, they were loosely wrapped in a plastic, grocery style bag. Naturally, the directories were wet!
Now I'm not a conservation freak or tree hugger, but I think cutting down tens of thousands of trees for these books that nobody seems to want, is a complete waste. When was the last time you looked in a directory for a telephone number anyway? And, with the Internet, who needs the Yellow Pages anymore?
