SELECT SOCCER
Coeur d'Alene Sting under-12 boys: The Sting won one and lost one last Saturday. The Sting lost 5-1 to the SSC Elite (Faridnia). The lone Sting goal was by Ezra Grossglauser, with an assist by Travis Swallow.
The Sting rallied for the afternoon game against the Shadow Breakers (Davey), winning 5-0. Goals were scored by Travis Swallow (2), Braden Farrar, Riley Glover and Ezra Grossglauser with assists by Cole Fawcett, Callen Trapp and Ezra Grossglauser.
Sting U10 boys (Chelsea): The Sting beat VYSA (Shell) 10-0 on Saturday. Keaton Murphree scored a hat trick, Tyler Shaw and Denton Meijerink scored twice each, and Trevor Rau, Docker Bond and Noah Cobb scored once each. Docker Bond had two assists and Cameron Dance, Keaton Murphree and Tyler Shaw had one each.
Sting U10 girls (Anderson): The Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers 5-0 in Sandpoint. Breanna Torres scored two goals, Sydnee Rud had two goals and an assist, Havalah Scott had two assists and Lexi Medina had one goal and one assist. Jordan Roth and Taylor Letro teamed for the shutout in goal.
Sting U14 girls (Swoboda): The Sting won twice in Puget Sound Premier League play last weekend. The Sting beat the Cascade FC G96 Green (Snoqualmie) 2-0. Meaghan Bare and Maddison Ward each scored, Sarah Lambert had an assist, and Tiegan Horton posted the shutout in goal.
The Sting beat the MVP Marauders 96 Navy (Ravensdale) 3-0. Alissa Jolliff, Sydney Lucker and Maddison Ward scored once each, Hannah Shrontz had an assist, and Tiegan Hortan posted the shutout.
Sting U12 girls (Beadell): The Sting kicked off its season with a 3-1 loss to the Shadow Sabers '98. Elaine Vedder scored the goal for Sting. The Sting beat the Sting (Walker) 2-0. Goals were scored by Mariah Morgan and Elaine Vedder.
Sting U13 girls (White): The Sting placed second at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint on Sept. 11-12.
In pool play, Sting outscored its opponents 7-3.The Sting beat the Kootenai Rovers 4-2. The first goal was made by Allison Branscome on an assist from Alex Boifeuillet. The second goal was hammered in by Cameron Croghan from the right from over 20 yards away. Samantha Lane scored the third goal on a penalty kick and Francine Mullen added a 20-yard shot from the left.
The Sting beat Idaho Thunder FC 1-0. Cameron Croghan scored the lone goal on an assist from Francine Mullen. Samantha Lane had 11 saves.
The Sting beat Cobra Azzuri 2-1. Francine Mullen made a goal line score from an assist from Carleen Simpson and Cameron Croghan scored on a penalty kick. Samantha Lane made five saves in goal.
The Sting lost 1-0 to FC Missoula in the championship game on a penalty kick. Samantha Lane made six saves.
Sting U13 girls (Roop): The Sting opened its season in the Northwest League by shutting out Moscow United U14 2-0. Cydney Roop scored twice and Ashley Rotchford had an assist.
Sting U11 girls (Engebretsen): The Sting went 1-1-1 in the Pend Oreille Cup recently in Sandpoint.
The Sting tied the Idaho Thunder 1-1 with Sarah Mullen making the lone goal. for the Sting. The Sting shut out the North Idaho Avalanche 5-0. Payton Barber scored two goals and Kimber Burgin, Sarah Mullen and Lily Scott scored once each. Payton Barber had an assist. Capriel Halliday and Bailey Swoboda teamed for the shutout in goal for 3 saves. The Sting lost to SSC Elite Fury 3-0.
In District 6 League play on Sept. 18, the Sting (Engebretsen) opened its league season in District 6 with a 5-1 loss to the Shadow Sabers Lungo and a 1-all tie with the Coeur d'Alene Sting (Dupree).
Against the Shadow, Anna Hilbert scored the lone goal for the Sting on an assist from Sarah Mullen. Against the Sting (Dupree), Bridget Rieken scored.

Storm tryouts: The North Idaho Storm girls basketball program will be hosting tryouts for this season's eighth-grade girls AAU team. Girls currently in grades 7-8 may try out. The Storm plays in Post Falls, Spokane, and tournaments throughout the Northwest. Previous recreation, YMCA or AAU team basketball experience required.
