TRAGEDY: Press ignored one victim
What a pathetic display of journalism it was to publish the article about the recent Coeur d'Alene High graduates who tragically lost their lives this weekend. While I do not dispute your facts concerning the life of one of the students, you absolutely ignored the life of the other young man who died. Are you telling us that if a student is not a star athlete, then they don't deserve to be recognized by their hometown newspaper? The loss of life at just under 19 years of age is tragic. Your ignoring that life is inexcusable.
The family and friends of Ryan Reinhardt, whose name you misspelled in your hurry to print your story, deserved better than the five words of acknowledgment that he was even in the car. Even the third occupant, who was injured, was given her own paragraph; albeit one sentence.
The Coeur d'Alene Press, as well as other local media outlets, have done a tremendous disservice to our community. By, as one retired CHS teacher would say, "Throwing up all over the athlete" you have minimized the life and death of one of our community members and a CHS graduate.
