Tea party to rally Sunday
POST FALLS - The Tea Party Patriots of North Idaho will hold a rally at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Greyhound Park and Event Center in Post Falls.
The keynote speaker will be Stephen Broden, a congressional candidate from Texas and pastor who was a speaker at radio and TV host Glenn Beck's recent rally in Washington, D.C.Gov. Butch Otter and Blake Miller, a member of the tea party's committee and local business owner, will emcee the event. Other speakers include Washington Rep. Matt Shea, R-Spokane Valley, and Miranda Miller, who is a home-school student.
There will be patriotic music and veterans will be honored.The event is free and open to the public. There will be concessions.
The nonpartisan party was formed out of concerns about government spending and fading Constitutional values.
Free group vocal lesson offered
COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene Chorus is presenting its series of four free group vocal lessons. The first lesson begins at 7 p.m. Monday at the Assembly Church, 2200 N. Seventh Street. Lessons continue through Oct. 4.
Women of all ages who enjoy singing are invited to attend and experience the fun of singing four-part a cappella harmony. Reading music is not a requirement.
"Learning CD's are included in the materials distributed so participants can learn by listening," according to a press release. "Any woman of average singing ability, with or without vocal training, will find a part that fits her voice range."The chorus is directed by Jay Krumbholz, music professor at Spokane Falls Community College.

Cruise planned with Sen. Mike Crapo
COEUR d'ALENE - Lake Coeur d'Alene Cruises will hold a special event with U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo on Sept. 25, from 5:30-7 p.m.Supporters can meet and greet Crapo as they cruise Lake Coeur d'Alene, while international accordionist Anton Lazarov provides musical entertainment. There is a no-host bar.
Tickets are $5, and the first 100 people to board the boat will receive a free glass of beer.The event has been dubbed "SeptOberFest with the Senator."
