Time to change your batteries

As the end of daylight savings time approaches on Nov. 7, the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department reminds residents to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.

Although smoke detectors are in 88 percent of area homes, without proper maintenance, firefighters said the most common problem for non-working smoke detectors is worn or missing batteries.
