STRAHORN: One way wrong way

| October 29, 2010 10:00 PM

I personally cannot believe that four city councilmen have so much control over the lives of so many. The one way on Strahorn negatively impacts all the families living on Finucane, Hillview and Maple, along with all the families north of the one way that use Strahorn as their daily commuter route.

I have counted the residences along the directly affected streets (Finucane, Hillview and Miles) and the total is 124 residences (data gathered from www.co.kootenai.id.us website). There are only 17 residences along Strahorn... 17 vs. 124. This isn't even adding in all the families north of the one way - if there are 124 residences along the affected streets then there has to be AT LEAST 500 families negatively impacted by this change to appease the 17 residences along Strahorn.

Also, the most important reason to change it back to a two way street - the kids who use Hillview to walk and bike to school everyday, including my own son. You can't tell me that trees and a lower traffic count in front of 17 residences is more important than the safety of our school children. The good of the few vs. the needs of the many... there's a theme here!
