Why all the bad press and letters about Phil Hart?

The man takes issue with the tax laws and has the gumption to stand up for his beliefs, is that bad?

And the logs? So what? On public land you say? Who is the public but you and me? Paying the state for the logs amounts to what? Another tax, that's what.

If Phil's detractors like to pay taxes that much, let them pay. Find me a candidate for political office that likes taxes, and says so.

The largest portion of our federal taxes go to the defense department. Please explain how our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan are protecting my freedoms here.

How many wars and military actions has our country engaged in in the last 50 years? And yet we have fewer freedoms than 50 years ago. Go figure. So when it comes to taxes...
