Doris Wiegand, 91

Doris Wiegand passed away on Oct. 26, 2010, at her Post Falls home. She was born in Sylvan Grove, Kan., to John and Bessie McClanathan on July 3, 1919. She was the middle child in a family of five: two brothers, James and John, and two sisters, Burnice McQuaw and Alice Burton. Alice being the only surviving sibling.

She loved music, dancing and flowers; her favorites being pansies and sweet peas. She also loved crocheting and made each of her three grandchildren, Shelley Young, Cynthia Gaillard and Larry Weisgerber an afghan. She did the same for six great-grandchildren, triplets Elisabeth, Victoria and Catherine Gaillard, Melissa Hicks, and Jessica and Matthew Young. She also crocheted many an afghan for the Kootenai Fire and Rescue.

Besides the aforementioned grandchildren she is survived by two daughters, June White at home and Joyce Wiegan of Peoria, Ariz.; four great-great-grandchildren, Aviona and Amora Hicks, and twins Natalie and Liliana Grashel. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo of 63 years.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

There will be a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at English Funeral Chapel, 1700 N. Spokane St., Post Falls.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
