CURRIE: Integrity is what you get

| October 28, 2010 6:00 PM

It's all about integrity. When people ask Rick Currie, "Why would you want to do a write-in campaign?" that is the answer they will receive.

Some try to make this campaign out to be sour grapes for not winning the primary in May. They are wrong; Rick Currie is a compassionate and caring man who is deeply worried what will happen to Kootenai County if someone who's willing to bend the truth, stretch their experience, allow intimidation of opposition and then hide from the questions needing answers gets into office.

Claims made by Jai Nelson regarding numerous topics - her real experience, interaction in local issues and qualifications - were exaggerated. Non-truths were told for the express purpose to mislead voters and gain a victory. Though some people feel Rick Currie has failed in particular areas of his duties as commissioner, it would be difficult for anyone to point out deliberate untrue statements made by him to benefit him personally.

Quiet, positive actions by this commissioner go unheralded. There have been those who were about to lose their homes to nonpayment of county taxes, but with his help they were able to work out schedules of payment to the county and stay in their homes. Others wanted simple answers to difficult situations they faced with their neighbors, confusing county ordinances or encroaching growth. Rick has always been willing to help constituents. And no one can deny that Rick puts in more hours weekly than any other county employee.

Will Jai Nelson offer these traits? Doubtful.

Put Rick Currie back into office with your write-in vote.
