SCHOOLS: Board makes right call

| October 27, 2010 10:00 PM

The Coeur d'Alene school board is making a difficult, but necessary choice to re-direct the board meetings agenda to running the schools, instead of having them twisted so some fringe thinkers can repeatedly rant about how we should censor our access to educational choices.

I applaud the board's courage to make this difficult decision so the meetings can return to the business of running schools, instead of the three ring circus a small but toxic group of individuals has turned the meetings into.

We Idahoans value our freedom of choice, opportunity for our children and the chance to secure a more solid future for all of us through educational choices. It is unfortunate that the repeated rantings of several people have forced this change, but the board has always been responsive to community input through other means (such as e-mail, letters or telephone) and this will not change.

Thank you District 271 school board for "taking back" the meetings so community input has a place, but does not diminish the ability of the board to do its job.
