NIC women win at invite
WALLA WALLA, Wash. - The North Idaho College women shot a second-day 262 to win the Walla Walla Community College golf invitational by 16 shots on Tuesday at the Wine Valley Golf Club.
"The conditions were horrible today," NIC coach Derrick Thompson said. "The winds were between 30 and 45 miles per hour, without a tree in sight. There was sand blowing out of the bunkers and a couple of times when the pins flew out of the holes. Anyone that finished in the 70s on the boys side and 80s on the girls had good scores today."
Rachel Westby finished third and Makena Schevenius seventh for the Cardinal women, who finished with a 629 for the tournament.
Eli Bowen finished sixth with a 154 and Jacob Erickson (156) was seventh for the NIC men, who finished third. Community Colleges of Spokane won the men's tournament.
It was the last event of the fall season for NIC.
"We're pretty pleased going into the spring," Thompson said. "We're feeling good about how the fall went."
