| October 27, 2010 9:00 PM

Located in beautiful Coeur d' Alene, KTigers Taekwondo offers the most extensive and holistic system of martial arts training for students in the art of Taekwondo. KTigers is an educational and family oriented institution that is dedicated to helping our students reach their maximum potential by setting and achieving sustainable goals and keeping our body, mind, and spirit in perfect health and harmony.

Whether your goal is to learn self-defense, weight loss and physical fitness, discipline, focus and concentration, or you're simply looking for a wholesome family activity, KTigers can help you meet and surpass your ambitions through your taekwondo training.

Considered to be the most popular martial art in the world with over 70 million practitioners in over 200 countries, Taekwondo is an unarmed Korean Martial Art that has a proud and ancient history that can trace its roots to before the birth of Christ. Officially introduced as an Olympic sport in 2000, Taekwondo continues to be relevant in our ever changing modern world, and to this day, is even used by the South Korean military and other nations worldwide as part of their training regimes.

Taekwondo is admired for its wide range of high, powerful kicks, intense hand strike combinations, and strong defense techniques. It's suitable for people of any age and gender, and unbeknownst to most, because of all the safety equipment and precautions observed during training, Taekwondo is actually safer than most conventional sports.

The word 'Tae Kwon Do' roughly translates to 'Kicking, Punching, Way of Life.' While most people are aware of the physical benefits (such as the self defense skills learned with Taekwondo), most are unaware that at the core of it, Taekwondo goes beyond a mere physical skill set, and transcends into a philosophy and way of life, as the 'Do' in Taekwondo implies.

On the physical side, we strengthen the body with isometric and dynamic tension exercises. Optimum flexibility is progressively developed through a process of safe and low impact stretching techniques. With deep breathing and concentration exercises, we relax the mind and sharpen response time so as to better acclimate ourselves to handling difficult situations more confidently and efficiently. On a side note, Taekwondo can burn up to 800 calories per hour. You'll build muscle and essentially reshape and lean out your body while getting your metabolism kicking in high gear with our effective circuit workouts.

At KTigers Taekwondo, we offer many different programs to meet all our student's needs. Men, women, and children of all ages and athletic abilities can enjoy and benefit from Taekwondo training. Classes ranging from ages 4+ are offered. As our students progress, they may be eligible to join our black belt club, or even have the opportunity to travel to Korea and train with our elite KTigers Demonstration Team.

KTigers Taekwondo is located at 410 W. Neider Ave. Suite D in Coeur d' Alene and has a flexible class schedule with classes going on Monday through Saturday. Visit our website at KTigersUSA.com for more information about KTigers and the art of taekwondo.
