Deputy injured in collision
A Kootenai County Sheriff's deputy was injured early Tuesday when his patrol car was struck by another vehicle.
According to the Idaho State Police, the deputy was southbound on Government Way en route to an agency assist about 1:30 a.m. when his 1999 Ford Crown Victoria was hit by a 1992 Oldsmobile driven by Kyle Martinez, 19, Pendleton, Ore.
Police said Martinez was westbound on Appleway, entered the intersection and collided with the deputy's vehicle.
The deputy's vehicle lights and sirens were activated at the time of the crash, ISP said.
The deputy suffered a broken foot and was treated and released at Kootenai Medical Center.
Martinez and a passenger, Ryan Pullen, 19, Pendleton, were treated and released at KMC. Both were wearing seat belts.
"Impairment was a factor in the crash on the part of Martinez," a police report said.
